ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Sabah Subhi, a member of the Iraqi Parliament's Oil and Gas Committee, confirmed that a delegation from the Iraqi Oil Ministry will visit the Kurdistan Region to discuss the ongoing oil export dispute between Erbil and Baghdad.

Speaking to Kurdistan24 on Friday, Subhi revealed that the decision for the visit was made following a meeting between the Iraqi and Kurdistan Region Economic Councils, held in Erbil. The delegation’s primary agenda will be addressing the cost of oil production by companies operating in the Kurdistan Region and the stalled oil export process.

Under an agreement between Erbil and Baghdad, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is required to deliver 400,000 barrels of oil per day to Baghdad. However, oil exports remain suspended, with both sides failing to reach a resolution. Subhi emphasized that the Iraqi government's prevention of oil exports is a key issue, and the Ministry of Oil must address the situation.

While the date of the visit has not yet been determined, the delegation is expected to hold talks with the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Natural Resources in the coming weeks. The visit is seen as a crucial step toward resolving the oil export deadlock and improving economic relations between the two governments.
