KRG Minister assures Erbil's water shortage to be resolved soon

“When the water shortage problem arose, the prime minister, demonstrating a strategic vision and decisive action, laid the foundation stone for the largest and most strategic water project in Erbil just a few days ago,” he stated.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Sasan Awni, the Minister of Municipalities and Tourism of the Kurdistan Region, assured citizens that the persistent water shortage issue in Erbil will be resolved soon.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Qushtapa water project on Tuesday, he emphasized the government's dedication to tackling the water crisis.

"Addressing water and water resource concerns has always been a top priority for the Kurdistan Regional Government," stated Minister Awni, highlighting the substantial investments of 160 billion dinars in direct expenditure and 340 billion dinars in indirect expenditure dedicated to ensuring clean water access for the population.

“When the water shortage problem arose, the prime minister, demonstrating a strategic vision and decisive action, laid the foundation stone for the largest and most strategic water project in Erbil just a few days ago,” he stated.

Awni further lauded Prime Minister Masrour Barzani's strategic vision and decisive action in addressing the escalating water scarcity issue. He pointed to the recent initiation of the largest and most strategic water project in Erbil as a testament to the prime minister's commitment.

The minister also highlighted the government's efforts to address water scarcity in Chamchamal, noting the ongoing implementation of the Goptapa-Chamchamal water project to tackle the long-standing problem.

"Today's project, along with other initiatives, complements the Prime Minister's efforts to completely eliminate the water shortage problem in the capital and its surrounding areas," Minister Awni concluded, expressing confidence in the government's ability to resolve the water crisis effectively.
