PM Masrour Barzani, Spanish Ambassador discuss bilateral ties, regional challenges

Spain's Ambassador also congratulated Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on the successful completion of the recent Kurdistan Region Parliamentary elections.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Spain's new Ambassador to Iraq, Alicia Rico Pérez del Pulgar, in an official meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional challenges.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani expressed gratitude for Spain's continued support within the International Coalition against ISIS. The Prime Minister acknowledged Spain's significant contribution to counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

Ambassador Pérez del Pulgar emphasized Spain's commitment to enhancing relations with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region across various sectors.

She also congratulated Prime Minister Barzani on the successful completion of the recent Kurdistan Parliamentary elections.

The discussions included the importance of resolving outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government of Iraq, with emphasis on constitutional solutions and respect for the federal system and the Kurdistan Region's constitutional status.
