Heavy snowfall expected across Kurdistan Region as cold front intensifies

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The General Directorate of Meteorology and Seismology has issued a 48-hour weather forecast predicting significant precipitation across the Kurdistan Region, including substantial snowfall in mountainous areas.

For Monday, the forecast indicates "complete cloud cover with scattered rainfall across most areas, with higher precipitation rates in mountainous regions and mixed snow and rain in border areas.

"The precipitation will weaken during nighttime hours, except in the eastern border areas of Halabja province, where light rain will persist," the statement added.

The weather forecast for Tuesday predicts "complete cloud cover with rain and snow in Duhok province's mountainous areas during morning hours. Precipitation is expected to intensify in the afternoon, spreading across all Kurdistan Region areas. Significant snowfall of approximately 8-10 centimeters is expected, particularly in northern and northeastern border areas, before gradually weakening."
