ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan24 has obtained exclusive access as the first Kurdish media outlet to enter the presidential palace of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, who has fled Syria following the spectacular demise of his rule.
As can be seen in video footage, even as parts of the palace's interior have been damaged, most of the building structures remain intact.
However, the palace's interior furnishings have been subject to looting and vandalism.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, prior to opposition forces taking control of Damascus, Assad reportedly fled the city by aircraft.
Later, Russia declared it had granted asylum to Assad and his family on a humanitarian basis.
