ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani underlined that his government has made considerable diplomatic efforts in recent months to prevent Iraq from becoming an arena for regional conflicts.
Speaking at a ceremony commemorating Iraq's Martyrs Day and the anniversary of Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim's martyrdom in Baghdad, al-Sudani addressed efforts by certain parties to draw Iraq into the Syrian conflict dynamics.
"Some parties tried to entangle Iraq in Syria's transformations and discussed changes to the political system," Al-Sudani stated. "However, no state or entity has the right to impose political or security changes on us."
The Prime Minister emphasized his administration's rigorous diplomatic engagement with friendly nations to maintain Iraq's neutrality.
"Through consultation and communication with friendly countries, we have worked diligently to keep conflict away from Iraq and prevent the country from becoming a battlefield for regional rivalries," he explained.
Al-Sudani also underlined that Iraq's international relations are being built on diplomatic principles, reflecting the country's commitment to maintaining balanced foreign relations.
