KRG, US Delegation Discuss Peshmerga Reform and Regional Developments

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Senior officials from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) met with a joint US military and diplomatic delegation to discuss ongoing efforts to reform and reorganize the Peshmerga forces, according to a statement released by the Kurdistan Region Presidency.

The meeting focused on recent progress in the Peshmerga reform process and emphasized the importance of overcoming existing challenges. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in implementing the next phases of the reform plan.

The statement also noted that the discussions extended to the broader security and political developments in the region, reflecting a shared interest in stability and long-term strategic partnership.

The reform of the Peshmerga, supported by the United States and the international coalition, aims to unify and professionalize the Kurdish security forces under a single command structure.
