ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) — A senior Iranian military official has declared that the Islamic Republic's missile arsenal is in optimal condition and fully prepared to retaliate against any violation of the ceasefire by Israel, as tensions remain fragile in the region following the recent 12-day war.
According to the IRIB News Agency, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), emphasized Tehran's combat readiness in a televised interview. “Iran's missile power is in excellent condition for responding to the Zionist enemy,” General Vahidi stated.
His remarks come amid widespread speculation over the durability of the current ceasefire between Iran and Israel, with numerous political and military figures on both sides signaling concerns about renewed hostilities.
General Vahidi further warned, “The warriors of Islam have made extensive preparations to respond to the Zionist enemy and can crush the enemy,” underlining what he described as an unwavering commitment by the Iranian military to defend the country’s sovereignty.
Asked specifically whether the domestically developed “Qassem Basir” missile system might be deployed in the event of another Israeli attack, the IRGC advisor replied: “Numerous capabilities have been prepared to respond to the enemy, which will be utilized in case of aggression.”
When questioned about whether Iran had received any diplomatic signal from the United States regarding the sustainability of the ceasefire, Vahidi was dismissive, saying: “We have seen nothing from America except aggression, betrayal, and unfaithfulness.”
These remarks follow heightened rhetoric and ongoing mobilizations in the region after the conflict between Iran and Israel. Although a fragile ceasefire is currently in place, Iranian military officials have repeatedly voiced skepticism over Israeli intentions and have warned that any provocations will be met with force.
The Qassem Basir, a precision-guided missile unveiled in recent years, has been cited by Iranian defense sources as a key component in the Islamic Republic’s evolving deterrence doctrine. While it remains unclear whether this missile system has been actively deployed, military observers believe its development reflects Iran's focus on long-range and precision-strike capabilities.
With Israeli officials also raising alarms about Iran's regional alliances and military posture, the coming weeks are expected to test the resilience of the ceasefire and the credibility of deterrence on both sides. Meanwhile, Tehran continues to frame its readiness as purely defensive, asserting its right to respond to any external aggression.
As regional powers brace for potential escalation, analysts are closely monitoring developments in Iran’s military rhetoric, particularly in light of recent high-level meetings and arms deployments reported by both state and independent sources.
