Arab League to Hold Emergency Meeting Over Iranian Attacks on Member States
The foreign ministers of the Arab League will hold an emergency meeting on Sunday to discuss Iranian attacks targeting several member states, the bloc’s assistant secretary-general Hossam Zaki said.
Zaki told AFP that the meeting will take place via videoconference after it was formally requested by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, and Egypt.
The urgent talks come amid escalating tensions in the region following a wave of Iranian missile and drone strikes against Israel and several Gulf countries as the broader regional conflict continues.
Iran executed a man identified as Ali Fahim after convicting him of acting on behalf of the United States and Israel during anti-government protests earlier this year, the judiciary said. Authorities described him as involved in “foreign-instigated riots” that began in December and escalated nationwide. Official figures put the death toll from the unrest at over 3,000, while a U.S.-based group reported more than 7,000 fatalities. The execution comes amid ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Iran’s IRGC said its intelligence chief, Maj. Gen. Seyyed Majid Khademi, was killed in an attack it attributed to U.S. and Israeli involvement. The announcement comes amid escalating regional hostilities, including Israeli strikes in Tehran, Iranian missile attacks on Israel, and broader العسكري activity affecting Gulf states and Lebanon. Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref condemned a reported strike on Sharif University, calling it a “symbol of Trump’s madness and ignorance,” according to BBC Persian. He said the use of “bunker-buster bombs” showed a failure to understand that Iran’s scientific capabilities cannot be destroyed by military force.
Aref said parts of the university were hit and sustained damage. The claims could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate U.S. comment.

US President Donald Trump said Sunday he believes there is a "good chance" of making a deal with Iran on Monday, ahead of his deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face heavy bombing.
"I think there is a good chance tomorrow, they are negotiating now," the president told a Fox News journalist.
"If they don't make a deal and fast, I'm considering blowing everything up and taking over the oil," he added.
