Trump Dismisses Threats From Iranian Security Chief as War With Iran Intensifies
U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed threats from Iranian security official Ali Larijani during a phone interview with CBS News, saying he “couldn’t care less” about the warnings as the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran intensifies. Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, had earlier warned that Trump would “pay the price” for U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.
Trump said he was unfamiliar with Larijani and claimed the Iranian official had “already been defeated.” The remarks came as Iran’s political leadership has been reshaped following the reported killing of the country’s supreme leader at the start of the conflict on Feb. 28. Iran is currently governed by an interim council that includes President Masoud Pezeshkian.
In the interview, Trump asserted that U.S. military operations had inflicted heavy damage on Iran’s military infrastructure, claiming missile systems, drone capabilities, factories, and naval forces had been largely destroyed. He also repeated his demand for Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”
Meanwhile, Pezeshkian issued a video message addressing neighboring countries and later clarified that Iranian strikes had targeted U.S. bases rather than friendly states. The escalating rhetoric between Washington and Tehran reflects deepening tensions as military operations continue across the region.
