Iran Threatens Asset Seizure for Individuals Cooperating with U.S. or Israel
Iran’s Public Prosecutor, Mohammad Movahedi Azad, announced that property and assets within Iran belonging to individuals outside the country who cooperate with the U.S. or Israel will be seized. The measure invokes the Law on Increasing Punishment for Espionage and Cooperation with the Enemy Against National Security and Interests, approved in October 2025. It applies to direct espionage, intelligence sharing, or broader support to foreign adversaries.
The announcement follows the February 28, 2026, U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian military sites and oil facilities, which reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior officials.
The communiqué emphasized that all actions threatening Iranian security will be met with confiscation of domestic assets. Enforcement will focus on property within Iran, affecting both Iranian citizens abroad and foreign residents providing support to adversaries.
