Rahim Rashidi

Rahim Rashidi (Mr. Kurd) is a Kurdish journalist, human rights advocate, and political commentator currently serving as Kurdistan24’s Washington DC bureau chief. Born in 1978 in Markhoz village, Saqqez, Rashidi began his career as a Peshmerga before transitioning into journalism and international advocacy. He is fluent in Kurdish, Farsi, Swedish, and English.

Rashidi’s media career spans three decades, beginning in 1996 with Voice of Iranian Kurdistan Radio and Kurdistan Newspaper. He later joined the editorial team of Rêjwan magazine in Sweden, contributing to Kurdish and Swedish-language publications.

From 2006 to 2010, he served on the board of directors and as news editor at Tishk TV in Paris. Over the years, he has translated numerous literary, political, and social works into Kurdish, including In Africa It’s Always Midsummer, The Principles of a Democratic State, Peaceful and Civil Struggle, and Women’s Rights, Human Rights.

A member of prominent international media organizations, including the Swedish Union of Journalists and the International Federation of Journalists, Rashidi is also affiliated with the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Press Centers and the AFPC-USA Club. His work intersects journalism, diplomacy, and advocacy, with active involvement in Kurdish Human Rights Watch and the Leadership Council for Human Rights in the United States.

In 2018, Rashidi was nicknamed “Mr. Kurd” by the President of the United States, a moniker that has since become synonymous with his public identity.

The same year, he was named “Man of the Year” by the Washington Free Beacon. His writing includes contributions to international publications, notably the essay “What Do the Kurds Want and Why They Are Oppressed,” featured in Contemporary Social Issues.

Beyond reporting, Rashidi plays a strategic role in Kurdish diaspora engagement. He heads the International Relations Office of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation and serves as a consulting advisor to institutions in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the Gold Institute for International Strategy.

Widely recognized for amplifying Kurdish perspectives in international policy and media circles, Rashidi remains a prominent voice advocating for Kurdish rights and political representation on the global stage.
