ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – An unidentified drone on early Wednesday hit targets at Tutaqal village in the Kurdistan Region’s Chamchamal district and casualties are feared, according to a Kurdistan24 reporter.

The drone targeted Tootaqal village at 7:00 AM (local time) in the Agh Jalar subdistrict in Chamchamal, where the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants are suspected to have a presence.

The Region’s counter-terrorism directorate, which usually updates the public on such attacks, has yet not commented on the incident.

Turkey in recent years has ramped up its drone strikes against the PKK, which it enlists as a terrorist group.

At least 12 Turkish soldiers have recently been announced dead in a fight with the Kurdish militants in Duhok province, whose borders have seen repeated clashes between the arch-foes.

Kurdistan Region officials have repeatedly called on the warring sides to take their fights away from the populated areas, where hundreds of villages have been evacuated.
