ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Sunday, The Kurdistan Region's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced the decision to hire 38,000 teachers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) through the government’s domestic revenue during a meeting with representatives of teachers.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his deep appreciation for the teachers’ unwavering commitment to their duties despite the challenging financial circumstances.
He praised their dedication to the "sacred duty" of educating the region's youth and fulfilling their responsibilities even in difficult times.

He also addressed the ongoing disparity in federal support between the Kurdistan Region and other Iraqi provinces, highlighting the unfair treatment the region has received.
"Unfortunately, the Kurdistan Region is not treated fairly." PM Barzani.
"Unfortunately, the Kurdistan Region is not treated fairly. For example, in other Iraqi provinces, about one million people have been employed within a year, while not even one person has been hired in the Kurdistan Region," Barzani said.
To address this issue, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has decided to contract all teachers in the region, utilizing domestic revenue to ensure the continuity and quality of education.
The representatives of the teachers expressed their gratitude for Prime Minister Barzani’s support and the government's commitment to addressing their demands, marking a significant step towards improving the education sector in the Kurdistan Region.
