ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Duhok Governor Ali Tatar declared on Monday that the province has undergone a significant agricultural transformation in the past four years. He attributed this progress to the Kurdistan Regional Government’s sound economic policies and strategies.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Kavin Group project, in the presence of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Tatar emphasized the pivotal role of agriculture in a nation’s economy. He highlighted the positive impact of effective policies on the lives of the region’s people.
As an example, Tatar pointed to the recent improvements in Akre, where farmers were once forced to discard excess tomato produce. Now, tomato cultivation has become a lucrative source of income. Similarly, potato production has surged, meeting the demands of provinces across Iraq.
The governor also praised the Semel district project, the first of its kind in Iraq. Initiated by Prime Minister Barzani a few years ago, the project has yielded impressive results, including the establishment of Iraq’s most advanced transportation station, the largest fish farm, and numerous factories.
Tatar commended the Kavin Group for its contributions to construction and investment, noting that the Kavin Farm project is a prime example of their achievements. He announced that an agreement has been signed with a major German company to import dairy cows.
On Monday, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially inaugurated the Kavin Farm project in Duhok. The project focuses on cattle rearing and the production of milk and cheese.
As the largest livestock and dairy enterprise in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Kavin Farm has a total investment of over $80 million. The project spans 3,000 hectares of land and provides direct and indirect employment to 2,500 individuals.
With a daily milk production capacity of 120,000 liters, Kavin Farm is committed to delivering high-quality, preservative-free dairy products with diverse flavors.
