IHEC announced 40 complaints filed during election campaign

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – On Wednesday, the Head of the Media Team at the IHEC, Emad Jamil stated to Kurdistan 24 webpage “So far, nearly 40 complaints have been filed during the campaign for voting in the Kurdistan parliamentary election”

Dr. Jamil revealed that some of the breachings were removed, also a number of candidates were punished and have been fined, at the same time investigation continues with some other complaints. 

“The campaign is generally going well and our teams are monitoring the process on daily basis, both on social platforms and in the streets,” He added. 

In a response to a question asked by the Kurdistan 24 website: "where have the commission's preparations for the elections approached?” 

“We have reached the final stage of preparations for the Kurdistan Parliamentary Election, equipment, ballot papers and all other necessities for the election process fully provided.” Jamil added.

IHEC denied planning for any curfew or traffic restrictions on the voting day. However, he disclosed that from 15th to 21st in October, will be a formal school holidday according to a decision made by the Kurdistan Regional Government.  

He confirmed that a large number of voting cards have been collected and called on voters who have not received their cards because without biometric cards, no voter can participate in the elections. 

IHEC announced the campaign for the sixth round of the Kurdistan Regional Parliamentary General Election started since September 25th, and will continue until October 15th.
