Qatari Envoy Praises KRG Projects in Farewell Meeting

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – In a key diplomatic meeting underscoring the growing relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Gulf states, Qatar’s outgoing Consul General on Monday offered high praise for the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) recent service projects, particularly the achievement of 24-hour water and electricity, as he and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani reaffirmed a mutual desire to continue strengthening bilateral ties.
The Kurdistan Region's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Hussain Bin Ali Al-Fadala, the Consul General of the State of Qatar in the Kurdistan Region, on Monday, to mark the formal conclusion of the diplomat’s mission in Erbil.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the strategic value of the relationship between Erbil and Doha. He "highlighted the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations," signaling the KRG’s commitment to building on the progress made in recent years.
The Prime Minister also extended his gratitude to the departing envoy for his contributions during his time in the Kurdistan Region. He formally "thanked the Consul General of Qatar for his work in strengthening the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Qatar during his tenure." In closing his remarks, Prime Minister Barzani wished Al-Fadala success in his next diplomatic assignment.
Reciprocating the warm sentiments, the Qatari Consul General expressed his deep appreciation for the support he and his mission received from the KRG. He "expressed his thanks and appreciation for the cooperation and support from the relevant authorities of the Kurdistan Regional Government."
Looking ahead, Consul General Al-Fadala formally "reaffirmed the State of Qatar's desire to further develop its relations with the Kurdistan Region," confirming that the positive momentum in the relationship is set to continue beyond his tenure.
In a notable endorsement of the current government’s performance, the Qatari diplomat specifically commended the KRG’s recent infrastructure and public service achievements. The Consul General "praised the service projects of the Kurdistan Regional Government in various sectors," giving special mention to the landmark initiative that has secured uninterrupted utilities for the capital. He singled out "especially the 24-hour water and electricity project" for praise, acknowledging a key accomplishment of the administration.
