Christian Alliance Condemns Drone Attacks on Kurdistan Region

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Christian Alliance on Monday condemned drone attacks targeting the private office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of the director of the Protection Agency in Pirmam, calling them a serious violation of the Region's sovereignty and a threat to stability across Iraq.

The alliance said it "condemns in the strongest possible terms" the attacks and expressed full support for the Kurdistan Regional Government, its institutions and the people of the Region.

"No party has the right to turn the airspace and territory of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region into an arena for regional conflicts and hegemony," the alliance said in its statement.

The condemnation followed an announcement by the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Directorate that two explosive-laden drones had targeted the two sites in the Pirmam district of Erbil province early Monday.

According to the directorate, the drones were of the Hadid-110 type and were launched from across the Iranian border at about 12:28 a.m. No casualties were reported.

The Counter-Terrorism Directorate described the attack as "entirely unacceptable" and said those responsible would bear full responsibility for the consequences.

The Christian Alliance said the Kurdistan Region had consistently pursued a policy of peace, coexistence and non-involvement in regional conflicts, arguing that its security and sovereignty must therefore be protected as a national and legal responsibility.

"For a long time, the Kurdistan Region has pursued a policy of peace, coexistence, and distancing itself from regional conflicts," the alliance said.

The statement also stressed that attacks would not undermine the Region's institutions or political will.

"We stand with the government and the people of Kurdistan to protect the peace, stability, and sovereignty of our land," the alliance said.

Monday's attack comes amid heightened regional tensions and a series of drone incidents affecting the Kurdistan Region. Authorities in Erbil have repeatedly warned about the risks posed by attacks launched against the Region's territory, particularly as wider regional conflicts continue to create pressure along Iraq's borders.

The targeting of the prime minister's private office and a senior security official's residence marks a particularly sensitive development because the sites are linked directly to the Kurdistan Region's political and security leadership.

The Christian Alliance called on all parties to respect Iraq's sovereignty and prevent the country and Kurdistan Region from becoming a battleground for regional rivalries.

The Counter-Terrorism Directorate said investigations into the attack remain ongoing.
