ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – A man was shot and arrested in Iran after trying to break into the President’s office, an Iranian official said on Monday.

“We are trying to identify the person and find out his motive,” Mohsen Hamedani, deputy governor of Tehran, told Iranian Fars news agency.

The man was holding a large knife and was wearing a white shroud, a symbol of his readiness to sacrifice his life, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported.

The man was shot in the leg as he was trying to cross a security gate to the president's office in Pasteur Street in the center of Tehran. It is a high-security area as other major government institutions are also located there.
