Dutch anti-immigration party wins elections
The election outcome disappoints Dutch-Kurd VVD leader Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, who had a strong shot at becoming the next Dutch PM.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – According to the latest exit polls for the Dutch elections, Geert Wilders' anti-immigration Freedom Party (PVV) is leading in the Dutch parliament elections with approximately 37 seats.
Following closely are GroenLinks-PvdA with 25 seats, VVD with 24 seats, and newcomer New Social Contract (Pieter Omtzigt's party) in fourth place with 20 seats.

The election result is a disappointment for Dutch-Kurd Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, the leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), who previously made a good chance of becoming the next Dutch PM.
Previously, survey results suggested that her party could lead the elections.
He told his supporters in a victory speech that his party is ready to 'govern', and said he was ready to form a government with other parties.
However, Wilders may face challenges trying to form a government. His party needs support from other parties to form a majority government.
Dilan Yeşilgöz, the Dutch Kurdish leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), in her post-election speech acknowledged the 'disappointing' outcome for her party.
However, she told reporters that is it not clear if PVV leader Geert Wilders can form a majority-government. "That's now up to him."
She did not answer the question if she would join a government led by Wilders.
Dutch Kurdish political analyst Sherzad Rojbeyani told Kurdistan 24 that the involvement Kurdish candidate for the prime ministership in the Netherlands “appears to have increased involvement and enthusiasm within the Kurdish community.”
“The aspiration of the new generation to engage more reflects a positive development in democratic participation.”
He added, that Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius could play an important role in the future Dutch government formation process.
