Erbil province begins land survey for employee land distribution

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Following the Prime Minister’s order to distribute land to government employees, several municipalities in Erbil province have commenced land surveys.
Hardi Ahmad, head of the design team at the Erbil Municipality, told Kurdistan24: “After surveying the land in the municipalities, we found that 45,000 employees are eligible to receive land and can fill out forms.”
Ahmad mentioned that maps have been prepared for the land sector that will be distributed to employees in most municipalities under the Erbil Municipality Directorate. “Most of the municipalities have completed their work,” he added. According to the guidelines, each employee will receive an area of 200 square meters of land.
In Koya township, the staff of the Erbil Municipalities Directorate are actively surveying the lands. After completing the surveys, sectoral maps for the lands will be drawn up and handed over to the planning department.
Karwan Khalid, an engineer in Koya municipality, told Kurdistan24 that there are about 6,000 employees eligible for land according to their data. However, he noted that after the audit, the number of employees eligible for land allocation might be reduced.
He added that the staff of the municipalities of Erbil are currently engaged in land surveys to determine the distribution of land to employees.
