ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On Tuesday, the Kurdistan Region’s Coordinator for International Advocacy Dindar Zebari informed that a special conference is scheduled to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights.

The conference will provide a suitable platform to implement international recommendations. It is also an opportunity to hold dialogue about internal and international cooperation and coordination.

Additionally, the conference could boast the Kurdistan Regional Government’s efforts in further developing, reinforcing, and enhancing the status of human rights in Kurdistan.

The ninth cabinet of the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, has placed significant emphasis on the rights of its citizens and their freedom in public and private spheres.

The adoption of the Regional Government’s Human Rights Plan (2021-2025) is a testament to the Kurdistan Region’s considerations for this important file and the implementation of international recommendations directed to the Region within the framework of the Federal Republic of Iraq.

Such efforts by the Kurdistan Regional Government showcase the intentions to harmonize the existing laws of the country with international conventions and treaties and are also part of the ninth cabinet’s reform process.

In this conference, the KRG’s steps in this regard will be presented and backed up with data and figures.

Moreover, the conference could provide an opportunity for reflection on the achieved progress per the commitment and adherence to international conventions and treaties in the field of good governance.

It could also give all parties to engage in highlighting discussion over the ongoing efforts to achieve justice and equality.

The conference offers a vital occasion for all three branches of the government - legislative, executive, and judicial - to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the process of implementing international requirements.

Representatives of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the government, as well as representatives from independent departments and commissions at the regional level, as well as the Presidency of the Republic, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Federal Ministry of Justice will be among the participants of this conference.

Several representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations, NGOs, United Nations (UNAMI), and international agencies and civil society will also gather at this event to discuss the main unfolding events, challenges, and future opportunities relevant to the conference's main focus.
