First exhibition of abstract, collage arts by students with hearing impairment in Erbi

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – For the first time an art gallery presented the exhibition of abstract and collage arts prepared by pupils and students with hearing impairment, in Erbil the capital city of Kurdistan Region, on Thursday.  

In a statement given to Kurdistan 24's Website department by Ala Kamal, the supervisor of pupils and students with hearing impairment, on Thursday, it has been the first art show of its kind, particularly, arranged for pupils and students with that health condition, in Erbil.

"That special exhibition was opened for the first time for a number of deaf pupils and students in grades 7, 8 and 9, they participated in painting 48 various tableaus of abstract and collage arts" Ala said. 

She further added “these pupils are from Hiwa Institute for Hearing Impairments, they own high artistic talents, but they need more care and support to their capabilities, it is true they are deaf, but they are artists." 

According to sources, there are more than 3,000 people with hearing impairment in the Kurdistan Region, they are talented and own many special skills.

Abstract art is defined as it doesn't represent the reality, but different shapes, colours and textures are used for the effect, yet the collage art can be made by using anything that can stick to a surface.
