Iraqi PM, French President discuss regional stability

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone call on Saturday to discuss pressing regional developments, including the crises in Syria and Gaza, and the broader challenges facing the Middle East.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Media Office, al-Sudani emphasized the importance of collective international efforts to support the Syrian people. He called for a comprehensive political transition that respects the rights of all Syrian communities while preserving the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The Prime Minister highlighted that achieving these goals is essential for ensuring regional security and stability.
President Macron expressed France's unwavering support for Iraq in its efforts to maintain security and stability, as well as in its ongoing fight against terrorism. He commended Iraq’s significant role in fostering peace and stability in the region.
The leaders also discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza. They underscored the urgency of increasing international efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. Additionally, they stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Lebanon to prevent further escalation in the region.
