ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – ISIS militants launched two attacks on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) positions in Deir ez-Zor, signaling a resurgence in the group’s activities. No casualties were reported in either incident.

Coordinated Assaults on SDF Checkpoints
On Saturday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that ISIS targeted two SDF bases along the main road between Namliyah and northern Deir ez-Zor. The attack, however, did not result in any losses.

A second assault occurred yesterday, when ISIS militants attacked an SDF outpost in the town of Al-Shnan, near the Tayyana Refinery station. The assailants, riding motorbikes, opened fire before retreating, once again without causing casualties.

Escalation in ISIS Operations
According to the Syrian Observatory, ISIS has carried out 29 attacks in areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration since the start of 2025. These operations, which include bombings and armed assaults, have resulted in the deaths of eight SDF members and four ISIS militants.

In Deir ez-Zor alone, 21 ISIS attacks have killed six SDF fighters and wounded six others. The group has also conducted seven operations in Hasakah, killing two security personnel and injuring two others, while four ISIS militants were killed in clashes. In Raqqa, an attack left one security officer injured.

Concerns Over ISIS Resurgence
The increase in ISIS activity raises concerns over the group’s resurgence in eastern Syria. The ongoing attacks underscore the persistent security challenges faced by the SDF and the necessity for continued counterterrorism operations to prevent further destabilization in the region.
