Erbil (Kurdistan24) – In a swift response, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the deployment of specialized firefighting aircraft to Iran following the devastating explosion at the port Rajaei port, according to a statement released by Russia’s Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief on Sunday.

Moscow Extends Solidarity Amid Tragedy

The Russian ministry confirmed that, upon direct instructions from President Putin, a number of firefighting and emergency aircraft would be dispatched to Iran as a gesture of solidarity after the catastrophic blaze at the strategic port facility at Saturday.

Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Kremlin, conveyed President Putin’s condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a swift recovery for the wounded and reaffirming Russia’s readiness to assist Iran in managing the aftermath of the incident.

Iran Grapples with Unanswered Questions

While the precise cause of the massive explosion at port Rajaei remains undisclosed, local Iranian media, including the widely circulated newspaper Ham Mihan, have raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The daily suggested that the blast may have been linked to internal security vulnerabilities within the Islamic Republic.

In a prominently published editorial titled "Regarding the Explosion," Ham Mihan hinted that systemic failures in Iran’s national security and intelligence structures may have created opportunities for sabotage, posing a direct threat to the country’s economic stability and national morale.

The newspaper further stressed that the timing of the explosion—coinciding with sensitive negotiations between Tehran and Washington—warranted a thorough and transparent investigation. "It is imperative to determine whether the explosion was a mere accident or a deliberate act of sabotage aimed at undermining Iran’s ongoing diplomatic efforts," the editorial stated.

Growing Concerns Over Internal Threats

In a sharply worded commentary, Ham Mihan warned of political and social vulnerabilities that could embolden traitors to inflict irreversible damage on the nation's prosperity. "With Iran's population surpassing 85 million, it is conceivable that even a minority within different ranks and positions could betray national interests if their patriotic spirit is compromised," the editorial noted.

A Pivotal Moment Amid Regional Shifts

The incident occurs at a critical juncture for Iran, amid broader regional transformations and ongoing dialogues with Western powers. The full ramifications of the port Rajaei disaster—both domestically and internationally—remain to be seen, but calls for heightened vigilance and accountability within Iran’s political and security structures are growing louder.
