Prime Minister Masrour Barzani rings bell for start day of academic year 2024-25

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended the bell-ringing ceremony of the start day for the academic year 2024-2025 in Kurdistan Region, on Wednesday, in Najiba Khan Jalizada in Koya town.

Saman Siwayli, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education at the Kurdistan Regional Government stated to Kurdistan 24 “the new academic year 2024-2025 will begin with the participation of more than 1 million 720 thousand students in public schools and more than 132 thousand students in non-governmental schools”

Siwayli, aslo mentioned, the Ministry of Education has more than 118000 permanent employed teachers and more than 38000 teachers based on Zero-hour Contract.

Printed curriculum books

The Director General of the Programs and Publications at the Ministry of Education Hassan Sartip advised Kurdistan 24 “the Kurdistan Regional Government printed 19 million 768 thousand books, for the new academic year 2024-2025, with an assigned budget of more than 24 billion dinars, all the branches and departments of the education: scientific, literature, vocational and Islamic studies”

Improving the quality of education

Regarding the quality of education, the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government established a Trustee Committees upon the request from the Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, which set quality standards for the education process and curriculums in Kurdistan Region.

Rewarding policy for teachers and students

The Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan Regional Government decided to award any teachers who encourage the most students to read to be nominated as the Teacher of the Year.

According to the decision, the Ministry of Education, reward a student who reads the most books in their school.
