Iraq Christ Messiah

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – In a video that has gone viral on Iraqi social media, a man has claimed to be the “long-awaited Messiah who will end all wars” and bring peace on Earth.

“In the world of the living,” the Iraqi man declares in the video, “I am called Hashim Sahim Jabar,” while in reality, he proclaims, “I am Jesus Christ, the son of Mary.”

“I have appeared to you from Karkh [western half of the capital] of Baghdad in Iraq… my appearance is a mercy to both worlds [current life and ‘the afterlife’]...  and God sent me to you to bring equality and justice to a world rife with iniquity and injustice.”

“I have come to Iraq and a world of Kafirs [non-believers],” he says, using the pejorative word used by some Muslims to refer to persons outside of their faith.

He calls on all humans and members of all major religions, “Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists,” to follow him.

As of yet, it is unclear whether the content of the video is meant to be humorous, but most users on social media view it as such.

Others, however, attribute the man’s words and cases of the sort emerging and spreading on the web to mental health disorders.

“My arrival is a blessing to all [peoples],” he says.
