ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) An Islamic State suicide car bomb attack in northeastern Syria on Monday targeted a joint patrol of the country’s Kurdish-led forces and US-led coalition troops.

The outcome of the incident “was limited to material losses only,” the US-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a statement, rejecting initial reports of casualties.

The incident took place near the town of Shaddadi in Hasakah province, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which reported earlier that five members of the SDF were killed.

A video posted by Kurdish Hawar News Agency shows smoke rising from the site of the incident.

The attack came days after a suicide attack killed 16 people, including four Americans, in the northern town of Manbij in Syria.

US-led coalition confirmed that "a combined U.S. and Syrian partner force convoy was involved in an apparent VBIED attack today in Syria. There were no U.S. casualties."
