Iraqi plane makes emergency landing near Kalar: Defense Ministry

An Iraqi military aircraft made an emergency landing in the al-Mawdiya area outside the city of Kalar, Iraq's Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – An Iraqi military aircraft made an emergency landing in the al-Mawdiya area outside the city of Kalar, Iraq's Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday.

The aircraft was a “Cessna Caravan” type that landed “during a training flight due to a technical malfunction,” the ministry said in a statement.

Six individuals were on board, but no casualties have yet been reported.

“The plane landed during a flight from Suleiman Begg to Sulaimaniyah (Sulaimani), but landed outside of Sulaimani,” Brigadier General Yahya Rasool, the spokesperson for the Iraqi Defense Ministry said in a statement.
