PHOTO: 45 casualties reported in Baghdad suicide bombing

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – A suicide bomb attack on Monday in the southeastern Iraqi capital of Baghdad killed 17 and wounded over 28 others.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior reported that a suicide attack targeted a crowded market in the Nahrawan area in Baghdad.

The Ministry also stated that two gunmen with suicide vests opened fire at a crowd in the al-Shamar market in Nahrawan, adding that security forces managed to kill one while the other detonated his suicide vest.

Following the attack, Iraqi security forces imposed a curfew in the Nahrawan area.

No side has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

On Sunday, another explosion targeted a market south of Baghdad, killing one person and wounding six others, al-Sumeriya news outlet reported.

On Nov. 21, a car bomb attack in Khurmatu’s Sunni-populated Askari neighborhood killed 23 people and wounded over 40 others, Sardar Ahmed, a member of the Khurmatu District Council, said.
