PHOTOS: Iraqi Mi-17 helicopter crashes, seven killed: Army

All seven soldiers who were in the helicopter were killed.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – A helicopter crashed on Sunday during a military training operation in the southeast of Baghdad, the Iraqi army said.

The Mi-17 helicopter fell during a ‘training’ mission in Shuwaijah area, eastern of Kut city in Wasit province.

All seven soldiers who were in the helicopter were killed, Iraqi War Media Cell announced in a statement.

The statement gave no further details about the incident nor revealed the name of the victims.

Wasit has a population of a million and a half, mostly Shia Arabs. Last year, the province witnessed a similar incident with the same type of helicopter, killing nine.
